Conservative Simon Kirby, the sitting MP is riding high on the crest of the wave, following the news that the Royal Sussex County Hospital will get their promised £420 million investment and Labour’s Nancy Platts is pulling out all the stops to save local fire stations from closure.
With under a year to go, the 90,000 constituents of Brighton, Kemptown, Peacehaven, Ovingdean, Woodingdean and Rottingdean have a choice to make.
TO CARRY ON WITH THE STATUS QUO, OR TRY SOMETHING DIFFERENT.
THE SEVERITY OF THE SITUATION IS UNDENIABLE.
• By re-electing Simon Kirby we will continue to suffer from the Nasty Nazi policies of austerity.
• To elect Nancy Platts would mean much the same.
• Davy Jones, the Green Party candidate hasn’t much to say.
• And UKIP Ian Buchanan is a Freemason, what more is there to say?
THE CHOICES ARE STARK- MORE OF THE SAME OR SOMETHING DIFFERENT.
Standing as an independent candidate on an anti-corruption platform, I am that “Something Different” you’ve been waiting for.
Unlike either Simon or Nancy, I am a man of the people, because having been brought up in a single parent household, in a council house, working in low-paid jobs and having gone to state schools, I know better than anyone the hardships and issues which the common people face.
We are at the edge of a cliff, looking over into oblivion. Before us are three spikes in the road.
• The Conservative road of more to the few and less to the many.
• The Labour road of pretending to give more to the many, while in fact giving more to the few too.
• The Independent road of the many getting it all and the few getting locked up in prison.
THE DANGERS OF VOTING FOR THE STATUS QUO.
Simon Kirby has demonstrated where his loyalty lays by voting for austerity for the last 4 years.
• Fracking across the country, polluting our national water supply and contaminating our country-side.
• More unnecessary austerity which robs the people of their wealth and drives thousands to suicide and food banks.
• More statute regulations which will curtail our freedoms of speech, assemble and thoughts.
• More corruption in national and local government.
• More pain and injustice to the common people.
• More war, death and destruction.
• A lame duck in Parliament.
• Personal advancement for Nancy and her friends.
• The same policies as the Tories but with a different spin.
A VOTE FOR ME WOULD MEAN:
• An independent voice in Parliament.
• A brave voice which supports the common people.
• A crusader against corruption.
• A cure for Cancer.
• A debt free economy.
• Wealth and prosperity for all.
WHAT I’VE DONE ALREADY.
Unlike Simon Kirby and Nancy Platts, I’ve already made good on my promises and by setting up the Shadow Sussex Police and Crime Commissioner office (SSPCC) in 2012, have shown my dedication towards anti-corruption.
Unlike any other politician in Sussex, I’ve listened to what the people are saying and I’ve acted upon their words.
The people of Sussex are telling me that corruption is strife and that they are worried for the future and their children’s future.
Having taken their complaints to Simon Kirby and others, they have realized that no one else cares.

Having (proverbially) screamed from the top of my voice from the rooftops, not one soul in Sussex has bothered to investigate this scandal.
IS THIS REALLY WHAT 90,000 CONSTITUENTS WANT?
As your MP my voice would be heard because I’d no longer be shouting from the proverbial roof-top, but I’d be shouting in the centre of Parliament, where my voice will have to be heard.
If you think corruption doesn’t affect you, then you are a fool. Corruption affects every single one of us. And I’m the only option you have in the general election of 2015 to put a stop to it.
I NEED YOUR VOTES NOT YOUR HITS.
Now a lot of you would have noticed my campaign against Queen Elizabeth II. And I expect I would have lost a lot of your votes, even before I’ve had a chance to win them.
I’ll be the first to admit that I became intoxicated with the hits. The more I wrote about the Queen the more hits I got. It took my campaign manager to remind me that I need votes not hits.
So if you subscribed to Getting Ready for 2015 for controversial articles about the Queen, don’t despair.
Following a blog restructuring, I’m happy to say that my more controversial articles have been tendered out to the alternative news agency Guerrilla Democracy News.

As the daughter of King Paki from New Zealand chastised me:
“May I ask what is it that you hate the Queens family and why do you disrespect them…..so much?
If you derail the train….something gonna happen and you as our Maori King we as the people will suffer because of your pig headed crap….so if I am missing something here please explain…and let me be the judge of it….Just don’t get it.”
I chose to support Kevin Annett and the International Tribunal of Crimes and Church and State (ITCCS) because as an anti-corruption politician, I believe no one should be above the Law, including royalty.
I’ve demonstrated that I am ready and willing to take on anyone and everyone who’s involved in corruption, including the Queen of England.
Now while this stance may lose me votes, for the simple reason that people just can’t imagine our Queen ever breaking the Law, I’ve done it because people are saying the Queen has broken the Law.
THIS PROVES THAT I AM WILLING TO LISTEN AND ACT UPON WHAT IS BEING SAID TO ME.
Tell Simon Kirby you are a victim of institutionalised corruption and he’ll shrug his shoulders and say he can’t help, as he did when I wrote to him about my concerns about an O.A.P who just happens to be the main witness in the Katrina Taylor murder of 1996..
Tell Nancy Platts the same thing and she ignore you.
• Read more: Who is Nancy Platts?
Both Labour and Conservative are in it together. Vote for one and you’ll get the other.
It’s with this in mind that I need you to book me. Book me and give me the opportunity to convince you I’m the best person for the job.
• If you are a chair person of a local group, book me.
• If you are someone who wants to know more, book me.
• If you have an event, book me.
I need as many votes as I can get, so please book me and let me convince you that I’m the best for the job.
WE NEED MORE INDEPENDENT CANDIDATES.
Calling all like minded independent minds- We need you to stand against the Conservative MP Mike Weatherley in Hove and against the Liberal Democrat MP Norman Baker in Lewes.

Well, that was just what the doctor ordered. A great turn out of people, young and old – and even a couple from Kent – came and had a look at just how the Bevy has been transformed. The tables and chairs we got cheap from a closed down cafe gave the place a real lift. We had tea and biscuits and even a workable loo. And during our tours we all loved showing off the sliding doors that close the cafe from the pub area.
The feedback was fantastic and it was great to see so many locals excited about the Bevy opening again four years after it was shut. One of the old regulars told us “Moulsecoomb isn’t Moulsecoomb without a pub.” Another said how he now drinks in Lewes but would love somewhere to meet his neighbours again. Another lady donated a big bottle of whiskey for a raffle prize.
And you know that there are places like Moulsecoomb and Bevendean all over the country that are crying out for their locals to be re-opened and re-invented so that communities can become better places where people get the chance to meet each other.
All of which makes us more determined than ever to open as soon as we can.
There’s just the small matter or raising another £50,000, so we can amongst other things, kit out the kitchen, fit and stock the bar, put in the cellar and build the pub garden. We have a few plans up our sleeves but are also relying on ordinary people to help us out.
So buy some shares and be part of something unique. As well as getting occasional discounts, a chance to vote for the management committee, you will be invited to our monthly beer tasting evenings, where you will get to choose some of the ale for sale in the pub.
And if you want to lend a practical hand we will be decorating every Tuesday and Thursday between 7-9pm over the next few weeks and would really appreciate your help.
We will also be issuing share certificates in the next few weeks.

As with Brighton & Hove’s Green City Council asking for a 4.75% rise in Council Tax and what with Sussex Police and Crime Commissioner Katy Bourne, asking for a raise in the Police Precept (Tax), it comes as no great surprise that The Bevy Community Pub is asking for more money too.
THE BEVY NEEDS MORE MONEY as work starts in earnest.
Having raised £200,000 through share sales and a £130,000 grant from George Osborn’s Social Investment Business fund, The Bevy Committee say they need another £70,000 to give it the “WOW factor.”
Made up of local people, The Bevy Committee who’s Chairman is Warren Carter, who runs the Moulsecoomb Forest Garden and Wildlife Project, said in their FB status states, “Dear friends, Great news – the builders are in and the transformation of the old Bevendean Pub into “so much more than a pub” has begun. But we need your help again. Unfortunately we still need around £70,000 to open, in addition to the £200,000 we have already raised.”
Bucking the National Trend and Opening a Pub.
Tucked away in the sleepy suburbs on the outskirts of Brighton, Moulsecoomb is on the up and up.
Once viewed within the top 5% of the most socially-deprived areas in England, Moulsecoomb has gone through a make-over which has turned it from being in the top 5% of the most socially-deprived areas, to being in the top 5% of the richest investment areas in England.
Located on the northeastern side of Brighton, around the A270 Lewes Road, Moulsecoomb is found between the areas of Coldean and Bevendean, approximately a 2¼ mile walk to Brighton’s seafront.
Recent Investment into the area includes:
- The New £93 million Amex Football stadium.
- A multi-million pound new proposed 5 star hotel, student accommodation and Bridge Community base.
- The Keep, a purpose built, £19 million state of the art archive centre.
- The state of the art, £22 million Brighton Aldridge Community Academy.
- £1 million changes to Lewes Road
Other projects in the pipe-line:
- The £100 million Preston Barracks Development is back on.
- A new train-station for Moulsecoomb.
With 546 shareholders concentrated from the South Moulsecoomb area, The Bevy boast the record for having the highest amount of members of any Co-op Pub in the country!
The Bevy is for Everyone, not just Moulsecoomb.
Nestled in the rolling valleys of the South Downs, The Bevy’s customer base is so large, it covers many areas:
- North Moulsecoomb
- East Moulsecoomb
- Bates Estate
- Lower Bevedendean
Without a pub in sight, The Bevy has bucked the national trend and is opening a pub which everyone can use, because it’s more than a pub, its a community hub, and as The Bevy committee say in one voice, “We want to make sure the building has the WOW factor.”
As The Bevy Committee asked, “Why is this when we told you it would only cost £200,000?”
There are a number of reasons, but remember they are starting from scratch, an empty shell of a building.
- The building is in a worse state than originally thought
- The cost of everything has gone up
- We have also been hit with extra work to pass planning requirements.
- We want to make sure the building has the WOW factor.
We all need to be shareholders in The Bevy Pub.
With a combined population of thousands, (of which Moulsecoomb has 7166), The Bevy needs £70,000 more shares brought from the people who haven’t already done so.
At £10 a share you become a member of an exclusive Co-op Membership with Benefits.
Being a Bevy Shareholders means more than just a beer mat and a thank you. As a Bevy Shareholder you will:
- Get the buzz of being part of something groundbreaking
- Help choose the beer sold in the pub, with a monthly showcase of different and unusual beers for people to sip and judge
- Have a say in the future of The Bevy
- Be the first to benefit from Bevy promotions such as discount nights
- Invest in the Community
- Be part of a Community family
- Make new friends
- Discover new possibilities
- Learn new skills

- Chew the Bevy fat
If you haven’t brought a Bevy Share, why not?
The Bevy is great for the area, because the area needs a place to meet, chat, bring the family for a meal and learn new skills.

AND NOW FOR A QUICK HISTORY LESSON!
There is something interesting I’ve learnt about Moulsecoomb, I want to share with you.
The name is sometimes pronounced as if spelled Mools-coomb, though perhaps more often the first part is pronounced like the animal “mole.” It derives from the Old English for Muls Valley: Mul was a Saxon nobleman, and as I’ve discovered by using the resources at The Keep (which the Queen personally opened, with her husband on Halloween’s Day 2013,) I’ve found out that Brighton is veritably littered with Anglo Saxon remains. The gardens of the Exeter street area near Brighton Station for example have been giving up remains of Saxon nobleman for the last hundred years. In fact Charles Davis, the headmaster of Moulsecoomb Primary School boasts of a Roman Villa located underneath the school’s football pitch.
I tell you, its amazing, the place is veritably littered with Anglo-Saxon, Roman and ultimately, Ancient British King Arthur II Kingdom remains.
Not only is Moulsecoomb (including North Moulsecoomb, East Moulsecoomb, Hollingbury, Coldean, Bates Estate and Lower Bevendean) in the top 5% of places to live in England, we are now discovering that it’s always been the best place to live in England for the last two thousand odd years!
